As of Tuesday morning, The Biebs had more than 33,333,000 followers, while Gaga was closing in on 33,329,000. Both numbers continued to creep up, but it appeared Bieber was gradually increasing his lead.
Neither had immediately acknowledged the milestone on Twitter. Gaga’s latest tweet was a message to fans about her concert Monday night in Hollywood, California, while Bieber’s was a plug for a recent Teen Vogue photo shoot.
Based on their respective rates of growth, Bieber and his hordes of Beliebers were projected to overtake Gaga on Sunday afternoon, according to Twitter Counter, but Gaga’s Little Monsters put up a fight.
The coiffed Canadian crooner is Twitter’s first new king or queen since Gaga dethroned Britney Spears in August 2010. But Gaga still has more fans on Facebook — almost 55 million, compared to Bieber’s 50,666,000. (Rihanna tops both with 65 million.)

Gaga’s much-discussed bus, decorated by fans, made its debut before her show in Tacoma, Washington, on Monday.
Lady Gaga made sure that the first U.S. date of her “Born This Way Ball” was a special one, as she unveiled her Born Brave Bus before Monday night’s (January 14) show in Tacoma, Washington.
Gaga personally attended a pre-concert tailgate to christen the bus, which was covered in artwork by her Little Monsters, and is part of her Born This Way Foundation’s larger campaign to build a sense of community and promote self-acceptance among her fans, including providing them with access to mental health services, school psychologists, volunteer opportunities and bullying and suicide prevention resources.
“For those wondering about the ‘counseling’ at the BTWBall BornBrave pre-show, it will be a fun tailgaiting experience for Monsters to unite,” Gaga wrote on Twitter when she first announced plans for the bus late last year. “At the BornBrave Bus, you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, bullying, school and friends.”
Gaga’s pals Lady Starlight and DJ White Shadow provided music for the kick-off, and the Born Brave Bus will be open to the general public on the day of each “Born This Way Ball” concert from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. local time. Fans can also pre-register for the Born Brave Bus experience through the Born This Way Foundation‘s official site.
The Foundation has partnered with community organizations like Campus Pride, GLSEN, the National Association of School Psychologists and Youth Service America. Viacom is serving as the Foundation’s lead media partner as part of the campaign.
Teddy Riley alleges Taja Riley, EMI, and Sony/ATV have infringed the copyright on Lady Gaga’s “Teeth”
Happy families are all alike. Then there are the ones where family members start suing each each other.
See music producer Teddy Riley, who has worked with such musicians as Michael Jackson, Usher and Snoop Dogg. Last week, in California federal court, Riley filed a lawsuit concerning a song that he says he developed with Lady Gaga.
Riley is now suing his own daughter, Taja Riley, for claiming a songwriting credit and partial ownership of a song that she allegedly had nothing to do with.
According to the complaint, in September 2009, Lady Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) shared with him her concept for a composition that was originally titled, “Show Me Your Teeth,” which ultimately made it onto herMonster album as the song “Teeth.” The music was written by Teddy Riley and lyrics came from Lady Gaga.
Riley says his daughter was “desirous of starting her own career in the music and entertainment business” and aware that her older sister Deja Riley had been “granted a gift of songwriting credit” by their father.
Taja Riley allegedly wanted the same thing.
The lawsuit states that “after completion of the [“Teeth”] song, and its selection for inclusion as a track on Lady Gaga’s album, he and Taja had a discussion about whether he would be willing to similarly gift a songwriting credit to Taja Riley to assist her in starting her musical and entertainment career as well.”
The famed producer implies that he never came to such an understanding with his daughter.
Afterwards, Taja Riley is said to have signed a deal with EMI Music Publishing and EMI Virgin Music and claimed co-writing credit and a 25 percent interest in “Teeth.”
The father says “the representations made by Taja Riley as to participation in the creation of the composition, authorship, and ownership are all false and untrue and that Defendant Taja Riley did not participate in any way in the creation of the composition, and did not own any rights whatsoever to The Song.”
He also blames EMI, whose publishing division was just sold to a consortium that includes Sony/ATV, for not contacting him to ascertain the truth.
So he’s now suing his daughter, EMI and Sony/ATV for copyright infringement, fraudulent copyright registration, unfair competition and accounting. He wants an enhanced award of statutory damages for willful infringement and an injunction.
The flamboyant Lady Gaga will perform Monday night at the Tacoma Dome — stop No. 3 of the North American leg of her “Born This Way Ball” Tour, which kicked off last April and runs through March. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Gaga is also bringing her “Born Brave Bus” to the show, a resource for young people ages 13-25 to find professional help for mental health, anti-bullying and suicide prevention services. The bus will be parked outside the Tacoma Dome. You don’t need a ticket to the concert to visit the bus.
Since 2008, the 26-year-old pop star has produced two platinum studio albums that have spurred 16 hit singles including “Poker Face,” “Just Dance” and “Born This Way.”
Gaga’s tour kicked off Jan. 11 in Vancouver B.C. with a small wardrobe malfunction — a seam in her latex bodysuit tore open.
Not appearing too phased by the incident, Gaga tweeted yesterday to her Washington fans:
“On my way to Tacoma, I can’t wait to see you!”

Lady Gaga is scheduled to exit the X with some custom-designed kicks that shouldbee pretty spectacular.
The performer and anti-bullying activist has a Feb. 6 concert scheduled at St. Paul’s Xcel Center, where plans are already underway for what could be called her lovely parting gift.
“We do an artist’s gift when they [performers] come to Xcel Energy Center,” Jora Bart, the X’s PR manager, said Monday. “We [including marketing director Kelly McGrath] to brainstorm what might be a unique idea so they remember us when they leave town; they remember how nice people in Minnesota are.”
Recalling a MyTalk 107.1 interview Lori Barghini did with a Seattle-based footwear designer who’s originally from Minnesota, Bart said they decided that Kira Bundlie of Hourglass Footwear should design some shoes.
“They [Bundlie’s staff] had a meeting and came up with this awesome idea,” said Bart. “Since [Gaga] is kind of the queen bee of her ‘little monsters,’ they went with a bee theme. Then they thought Minnesota is famous for its local honey. They googled Lady Gaga and bees, and it turns out they just [named] a new species of wasp [Aleiodes Gaga] after her.”
An e-mail from Bundlie shared with me by Bart reads: “We started talking about how amazing it would be to paint her shoes (most likely very tall platforms) to look like actual honeycombs — very geometrically intricate and detailed, with swarms of realistic bees covering the heels and migrating towards the toes and little painted beads or drops of honey here and there.”
Monday when I telephoned the shoe designer, whose parents, Ericand Susan Bundlie, live in Eagan, Kira was thrilled that “the final sketches were just approved by Jora this morning, overwhelmingly. We’re super-excited to get started.”
These kicks sound as sweet as the over-the-top cupcakes from St. Paul’s Sweets Bakeshop, inspired by Gaga’s couture, which were among the gifts Gaga received last time she was at the X. She also was presented a one-of-a-kind garment created by Emma Berg and a flower arrangement created by Tom Johnson of A. Johnson & Sons Florist.
Enigma, out on the town
The Enigma, party of about 50, dropped by Market BBQ for a late meal and karaoke Sunday night.
The Seattle-born performance artist, whose body is smothered in tattoos while his head is implanted with horns, made what’s becoming regular stop by Market BBQ while at the Hyatt for the annual Minneapolis Tattoo Arts Convention.
“They rolled down about 11:30 p.m. Our cook [whose shifts normally ends at midnight] was pretty surprised,” said Anthony Polski, owner-in-waiting. “They all ate. I have a picture of Enigma eating that garden burger. I think it’s hilarious. They come here for our veggie burgers.”
Enigma and his significant other, Serana Rose, eschewed meat, as usual, while “all the other people ate normal — ribs and chicken and the stuff that we’re known for, although our veggie burgers are very good,” Polski said.
Polski was impressed with how accommodating Engima is when “fans are just coming at him. He’s very approachable; goes out of his way to be nice.”
Engima did no crooning. He only watched others performing karaoke.
Jesse vs. Jon
Former Gov. Jesse Ventura might not want to debate Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” anchor Jon Stewart on the issue of gun control.
Citypages.com reported that during a show last week, Stewart replayed a clip of Ventura asking whether cars should be banned because they result in deaths.
Said Stewart: “No, but we do enact stricter blood-alcohol limits, raise the drinking age, ramp up enforcement penalties and charge bartenders who serve drunks, and launch huge public awareness campaigns to stigmatize the dangerous behavior in question. And we do all those things because it might just help bring drunk driving rates down, I don’t know, by two-thirds in a few decades.”

Pop star Lady Gaga is reportedly having acting lessons in the hope of making the tricky transition from singer to successful actress.
The 26-year-old ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker is allegedly having acting lessons in a bid to make it in Hollywood and wants to follow in the footsteps of fellow musicians such as Justin Timberlake and Rihanna who have successfully made the transition to the silver screen, reported Daily Star online.
“She needs a new challenge and has set herself a target of winning an Oscar in five years,” a source said.
The singer had a fleeting cameo appearance in ‘Men In Black 3’ last year and now wants to land a leading role. The pop star is set to make her big debut in ‘Machete Kills’, a film directed by Quentin Tarantino’s regular collaborator Robert Rodriguez.
Eccentric Gaga plays a sexy gun-wielding character named La Chameleon in the sequel to the 2010 movie ‘Machete’, starring opposite Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba and Amber Heard.
“Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing Machete Kills by Rodriguez. I am so excited. Filming was insane,” she recently tweeted.
